ICIES News- At the 4th International Conference on Islamic Economics Studies (ICIES) 2024, a groundbreaking presentation shed light on the intricate dynamics between workplace spirituality, work discipline, and employee performance. The research, conducted by Putri Muhtarisa Sahda Kamila, Setiani, and Amelindha Vania from Universitas Islam Negeri Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, delved into how these factors interplay with work motivation acting as a crucial mediator.

The study employed quantitative methods to gather and analyze data from employees of the Tulungagung Regency Environmental Service. Using a questionnaire distributed among 98 employees, the researchers utilized the Non-Probability Sampling method to gather insights. Data processing was carried out using SmartPLS version 4.0, focusing on validity, reliability, and hypothesis testing.

Key findings from the study revealed that workplace spirituality and work discipline did not have a significant direct effect on employee performance. However, work motivation emerged as a pivotal factor influencing employee performance. Furthermore, work motivation was found to mediate the relationship between employee performance and both workplace spirituality and work discipline.

These results suggest that while spirituality and discipline alone may not directly boost performance, their impact becomes significant when channeled through enhanced work motivation. This finding underscores the importance of nurturing a motivated workforce to achieve better performance outcomes.

The implications of this research are profound, particularly in emphasizing the role of workplace spirituality in enhancing employees’ emotional and psychological well-being. By fostering a spiritually enriched work environment, organizations can potentially increase job satisfaction and loyalty among their employees, leading to a more committed and productive workforce.

The presentation concluded with a call to action for organizations to integrate spiritual and motivational elements into their workplace culture, aiming to harness the full potential of their employees’ performance through a holistic approach.
