ICIES News- At the 4th International Conference on Islamic Economics Studies (ICIES) 2024, researchers from Universitas Islam Negeri Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang presented a comprehensive study on the development of research concerning the influence of microeconomic variables. The study, titled “Mapping Research on the Influence of Microeconomic Variables: VOSviewer Bibliometric Study and Literature Review,” was presented by Nindi Dwi Tetria Dewi, Umi Julaihah, Masyhuri Machfudz, and Eka Wahyu Hestya Budianto.

The research aims to map the developments in microeconomic variables research from 1982 to 2022 by analyzing national and international journals indexed by Google Scholar, Sprott, and Scopus. The team utilized the Perish/Harzing application with the keyword “Microeconomics” to gather data, resulting in 323 research articles. These articles were then processed using the VOSviewer application for bibliometric analysis and were further examined through a literature review study.

Key findings from the research include:

  • A significant increase in the number of publications on microeconomic variables over the years.
  • Using the VOSviewer application, the research mapped into 7 clusters and 154 items, providing a detailed visualization of the research landscape.
  • The literature review identified two main themes surrounding the influence of microeconomic variables.

The presentation highlighted the importance of understanding the trends and clusters in microeconomic research to foster future studies and policy development. By providing a bibliometric analysis, the researchers offer valuable insights into the academic discourse on microeconomics, identifying key areas of focus and potential gaps in the literature.
