ICIES News– At the 4th International Conference on Islamic Economics Studies (ICIES) 2024, researchers Lely Ratwianingsih of Universitas Sebelas Maret Surakarta and Rika Fatimah P L of Universitas Gadjah Mada Yogyakarta, presented their study titled “Managing Quality Halal Tourism In the Concept (G2R) Tetrapreneur: A Conceptual Study of Islamic Economics.”
The presentation, held in Room 6, attracted considerable attention from conference attendees who were eager to delve into the quality management aspects of the Halal Tourism sector, which is currently experiencing significant public interest.
Their research underscores the importance of quality management in the operational management of companies or business units, particularly within the Halal Tourism sector. The “Global Gotong Royong (G2R) Tetrapreneur” concept, which is also focused on this sector, is part of village development initiatives in Yogyakarta. The researchers highlighted that the current business environment is marked by rapid development across all fields. Competition today hinges not only on high productivity levels and low product or service pricing but also on the quality of products and services, including convenience, accuracy, and speed.
To stay competitive, businesses must embrace change and innovation. Islam also emphasizes prioritizing quality in worship and life to ensure optimal benefits and advantages for all.
The researchers employed a qualitative method, conducting a literature review to build a conceptual framework exploring the relationship between the G2R Tetrapreneur concept and the Halal Tourism concept. Their study resulted in a conceptual map that reinforces the foundation of quality management within the G2R Tetrapreneur framework, rooted in Pancasila values and the Islamic concept of halal.
The participation of Lely Ratwianingsih and Rika Fatimah P L in ICIES 2024 highlights the dedication of Indonesian academics to advancing Islamic economics, particularly in the Halal Tourism sector. Their presentation not only provided new insights for conference participants but also sparked constructive discussions on the practical application of these concepts.
This research is anticipated to serve as a key reference for further development in quality management within Halal Tourism and to contribute significantly to sustainable economic development, especially in rural areas.
